Konami Digital Entertainment B.V. has announced it has entered a partnership deal with one of Germany’s biggest football clubs, Borussia Dortmund.
The deal will see Borussia Dortmund faithfully replicated within PES 2017 and future PES-related titles both for home systems and mobile-focused, with the publisher granted exhaustive access to the club’s many stars.

For those attending this year’s gamescom, I’m also excited to confirm that we will have two of Dortmund’s biggest players, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Shinji Kagawa, making a special appearance at the KONAMI booth in Hall 8.1 on August 18th – we look forward to seeing you there!”
The agreement is the latest of several deals, and will see KONAMI and Borussia Dortmund working closely together to ensure the German side is faithfully reproduced within PES 2017 and future titles. KONAMI will feature all current kits and iconography within its games, and will also be given access to the first team squad to ensure their in-game counterparts are true to life.

KONAMI will couple such access with its proprietary Team ID and Player ID systems to ensure the PES interpretation of Borussia Dortmund will mimic the overall and individual playing styles of the club and its players. KONAMI will also recreate the stunning Signal Iduna Park stadium within the game and recreate anthemic songs and chants used pre-match and by Dortmund’s passionate fans. The publisher will also use its incredible face-scanning systems to recreate the squad’s likenesses within PES 2017, with all these elements to follow in a free downloadable update.
The club will also be hosting a series of PES 2017-related events, wherein fans will be able to play against Borussia Dortmund stars, or play a game during half-time during a match. Borussia Dortmund players will also make personal appearances and will appear in promotional materials. Similarly, KONAMI will run key promotions via its hugely popular myClub mode that will allow fans to add Borussia Dortmund players to their home grown squads throughout the season.
Borussia Dortmund – also known as BVB – was established in 1909 and is one of the most successful teams in German football history. It has won eight leagues, three domestic cups, and both the UEFA Champions League and UEFA European Cup Winners’ Cup competitions.
The agreement comes as KONAMI builds up to the September 15th launch of PES 2017, the already acclaimed latest iteration of the 21-year-old series. PES 2017 is founded around the ‘Control Reality’ ethos, elevating the series’ award-winning gameplay to a higher level through incredible new control elements and a new standard of visual realism, without sacrificing what made PES successful in the first place – playing a match with your friends. The industry-leading Fox Engine is again central to raising the series to new heights, with KONAMI focusing on first touch, the making and receiving of passes, and adaptive AI to elevate the game’s acclaimed realism.
The playable PES 2017 demo will be released on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 on August 24th.
